The Downproof Tester can determine the downproof capability of the fabric which contains feathers or down filling. It can carry out the down or feather penetration through the primary tick fabric of a sample that has feathers and fibers in it. The device comes with an electronic pre-determined counter that can count the number of cycles per test and has an acrylic plastic cover with interlock for safety.
A sufficient amount of specimen from the fabric that needs be tested for sewing a pocket of specified dimension, is filled with a particular weight of down, feathers a mix of both. This bag is then sewed up along with the fabric to form a testing bag. Both sides of the bag is clamped and placed in the holder. The downproof ability is then determined from the test results by calculating the number of down and feathers through the fabric.
